Senior Mechanical Engineer
Location: Santa Monica, CA
Job Description:
Apogee Electronics is currently seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer who will be responsible for designing and developing complex electromechanical devices from initial concept to production by applying DFM and DFA principles.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Assist R&D with generation of consumer product specifications.
- Work closely with Industrial Designers and Electrical Engineers on initial concept development which includes complex 3D surface CAD models and electronic constraint drawings.
- Develop detailed manufacturing packages (including BOM, 3D CAD database, detailed part drawings, and detailed assembly drawings) for effective design transfer to manufacturing.
- Design injection molded plastic parts, stamped/formed metal parts, and electronic assemblies using SolidWorks.
- Design products applying principles of DFM and DFA.
- Manage mechanical BOM and ECO through the use of PLM software.
- Create and maintain documentation necessary to maintain a design history and record of all projects.
- Responsible for coordinating quotation, fabrication of prototype parts, tooling, and testing and verification of product requirements.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- BSME or MSME/MSIE preferred.
- Minimum of 6 years (8 years preferred) related work experience in new product development including extensive interaction with Industrial Designers and manufacturing vendors.
- At least 6 years of SolidWorks experience.
- Strong knowledge of a variety of manufacturing processes including injection molding, machining, sheet metal, casting, and rapid prototyping.
- Understanding of decoration processes such as IMD, IML, painting, pad printing, VM, NCVM, etc.
- Knowledge in Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), Gauge R&R, FAI, Cpk, and control plans.
- Familiarity with tolerance stack up and structural analysis.
- Strong planning, scheduling, and presentation skills.

Senior Lab Technician/Service Manager
Location: Santa Monica, CA
Job Description:
Apogee Electronics is currently looking for a Senior Lab Technician/Service Manager. Candidates must have 5+ years experience supporting R&D and PCBA repair of electronic products.
Position Summary:
Sr. Lab Technician/Service Manager for Apogee Electronics Corp. will perform engineering tests, document results, and develop test procedures, repair RMA units.
Additionally the candidate should be able to use common hand tools and solder/desolder components.
This role requires collaboration on a design team where both hardware and software are developed with the end goal of optimum system solution.
Primary Responsibilities:
Description of Primary duties and responsibilities
- Circuit Debug – 45%
- Able to read and understand schematics
- Able to trace circuits using PCB files
- Choose and use the appropriate equipment

- Successful experience working with contract manufacturers and other members of the supply chain.

- Must be able to use common hand tools and do some assembly.
- Must have good soldering/desoldering skills.
- Successful track record of participating in cross functional high-performance teams both intra and inter-company, preferably in one or more start ups and small engineering companies.

Project Manager - Program Manager
Location: Santa Monica, CA
Duration: Regular, Full time
The positions primary duties will be:
- Managing multiple projects for all product during development
- Maintain Schedules
- Coordinate the development and schedule of supporting products and accessories needed for product launch.
- Multi-task, the simultaneous development of multiple projects
- Coordinate the activities of onsite and offsite engineering and design teams.
- Coordinate with Product Marketing and Mechanical Engineering to insure all Industrial Design objectives are realized.
- Enhance and realize efficiencies for present product development processes and project management procedures.
- Ensure and manage prototype design, testing.
- Review and acquire Engineering Team sign-off at each stage of development.
- Coordinate with engineering-manufacturing to source all PCB development from Test to Final boards.
- Ensure new products are validated as specified by product marketing with “Sign-Off” by each team leader.
- Work with Engineering-Manufacturing to assist in the development of accurate BOM’s.
- Manage final testing, all agency approvals and certifications US and International (i.e. FCC, FDA, UL, ROHS).

Software/Firmware Engineer
Location: Santa Monica, CA
Job Description:
You will be a member of a small multi-disciplinary team, responsible for developing digital hardware and software for embedded designs. Typical designs include FPGA with hard or soft processors, RAM, FLASH, A/D and D/A converters, voltage regulators, glue and interface logic.
You will have a hands-on roll in product integration and debugging.
You must be a results-oriented problem-solver who requires minimal supervision.
Primary Job Function
Essential Requirements:
- BS degree with 7 years experience or MS degree with 5 years experience in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field
- Must be familiar with Xilinx, Altera, Lattice tools
- Familiar with simulation test bench
