MiC is the first studio-quality microphone to make a direct digital connection to iPad, iPhone, and Mac. About the size of an iPhone, MiC makes it easy to capture your best take with incredible quality, anywhere your music takes you. Record any sound you can imagine, from vocals to voice-overs, instruments to interviews and everything in between, and build a track right on your iPad, iPhone or Mac with GarageBand.
MiC is a premium digital converter featuring PureDIGITAL technology which delivers your voice or acoustic instruments true tone to your iPad, iPhone or Mac without compromise. You will notice the sonic difference between MiC and other similar products immediately.

It’s easy to tell if MiC is connected properly by the status LED on the front of MiC. If it’s green, you are ready to record and the light becomes your input level indicator. If it turns red, you are rockin' the MiC too hard and need to turn your level down with the input gain control knob.

MiC features an input gain control knob. This rotary style wheel is conveniently located on the side of MiC for easy thumb access. With the level indication LED as your guide, the gain control knob allows you to fine tune for the perfect level without having to look at software.

MiC features a wide dynamic range for capturing any singing style and genre. From soft ballads to hard rock, your vocal recordings will be clear and detailed. And because you can easily set your level directly on MiC, your tracks will be distortion-free.
MiC’s preamp and A/D converter are designed to record the true tone of acoustic instruments. Recordings of acoustic guitar, piano, strings and percussion will all sound like you are in the room with the performance.

MiC takes your iPhone videos to the next level. Whether you are capturing a performance for YouTube, making home movies, or shooting an indie film, recording with MiC will bring studio-quality audio to your next production.
Apogee and Zacuto have teamed up to offer the ultimate setup for mobile video and audio recording using the iPhone. The Apogee MiC, a USB microphone for iPhone, iPad and Mac, and the Zgrip iPhone Jr, a handgrip for shooting video on iPhone, turn your iPhone into a handheld, HD video rig with a stable image and pro sound quality.
Recording audio on a DSLR video shoot can be difficult, but with MiC and iPhone it’s incredibly easy. Simply connect MiC to a boom pole using the MiC Stand Adapter, plug into your iPhone and begin capturing audio anywhere. You can then upload the files to your Mac and begin editing in Final Cut Pro. MiC is a great way to bring 48kHz HD sound to the cinematic image quality offered by cameras like the Canon 7D, Canon 5D and the Nikon D800.
MiC simplifies the recording process for voice-overs, podcasts and interviews and delivers professional results. With MiC and an iPhone or iPad you have an affordable setup that is easy to use and completely portable.
Apogee was fortunate enough to have Hawaiian artist Willie K. stop by for an in-prompt performance in Santa Monica, California. With just a single Apogee MiC set up to capture his voice and ukulele, the song was recorded in one take straight into the iPad using GarageBand.
The Mamas, professional backup singers for Beyonce, recently fell in love with MiC while backstage before a performance in Atlantic City.
Once the Beyonce tour had concluded, the trio parted ways to return to their respective hometowns. The collaboration did not end however, as The Mamas were able to continue singing together. Spread across the US, The Mamas each recorded their parts to Diana Ross' "Love Hangover", a song they often perform together as an interlude during Beyonce's set, using MiC, a Mac and GarageBand to create one great sounding track.
Ted Gowans, guitarist of Tegan and Sara, easily and quickly records a song using MiC, JAM, iPad and GarageBand. With MiC and JAM's direct digital connection to iPad it's incredibly simple to record acoustic guitar, electric guitar, bass, and piano in studio quality sound using the audio recorder and guitar amp modeling within the GarageBand iPad app.
World renown guitarist, Yuri Nugmanov, records classical guitar in stereo with two MiC's, Logic Pro and a Mac. Apple's Mac OS lets you connect two Apogee USB audio interfaces to separate USB ports on your Mac. "Aggregation" is a great way to access more input channels for your recordings. With two MiC's it's easy to record in stereo or record two separate instruments in GarageBand, Logic, Pro Tools or any Core Audio compatible application.
With MiC, iPhone and GarageBand you have a portable recording setup that sounds amazing and is easy to use. Simply connect MiC to the dock port on your iPhone using the provided cable, start-up Apple GarageBand and you're ready to go. Singer-Songwriter Gabe Bondoc employed this setup for recording acoustic guitar and vocals on his song "Now I know why".

Great USB microphone"This is the best microphone I have ever used, USB or not. The quality is so good you almost can't tell that you are listening to a recording. The computer recognized it immediately and I did not have to install a driver. I might even get a second one to record in stereo."
Alex from Winston-Salem |
$200 worth of GOLD!"Don't let the size fool you, Apogee interfaces are startlingly clear and pristine, and so is this microphone. If you have too much noise in your recordings, try turning off your refrigerator. This, with an iPad or iPhone, is the quietest portable microphone set-up I have ever used. And it is built like a classic piece of audio gear. Tiny, but beefy, with no visible garbage materials in the construction.”
Christopher C from Vancouver |
Best mic for iPad, hands down"If you are looking for an easy to use, great sounding microphone for the iPad, you cannot do better than this. Plug and play, no camera connection kit needed, made specially for GarageBand but works with everything I throw at it. Great sound (no noise!) and the latency is so low you don't really need an on board headphone jack."
Jimmy from Chapel Hill, NC |
For a cheapskate, absolutely no buyer's remorse."This is absolutely the best portable recording solution I've found. I bought it for doing voice over auditions at home. The sound is so warm and crystal clear. My favorite thing is being able to record on my iPad without having to worry about isolating a computer fan. It's triple the quality and performance than using my PC and any other USB mic or interface and studio mic."
DUSTIN A from MOUNT JULIET |
MiC is Amazing“This mic is just a necessary tool if you have a iPhone or iPad or Touch or Mac. All you need is your device, cable plug in and run your app and you will get excellent results to record your music or voice. I used it to record my Flamenco guitar and it sounded great. If you have two pockets and a apple product and Mic you have a small mobile studio to capture sound. Amazingly small excellent set up. Go get one you will not be disappointed.”
Victor Tarassov from Princeton |

What else do you need?“So far I've used this to record my classical guitar while I work on various style of African guitar playing. I use Garageband on my iPhone and MiC works great it. (and every other recording app) I've also used it to do some simple field recording of my band playing- also works well! The gain dial is simple to adjust. Just crank it up and then slowly dial it back until you stop seeing red. It's compact but well built and sturdy.”
Quiddle from Cleveland, OH |
I like MiC“I'm not a microphone expert by any means, and as with most things musical it's largely subjective anyway, but I thought MiC did a fantastic job recording my acoustic guitar.”

Electronic Musician - USB Mic Roundup featuring Apogee MiCby Phil O’Keefe "This a wonderful-sounding little mic. Because of its simple, hassle-free, plug-in-and-go compatibility with Macs and iOS devices, MiC is a great choice for GarageBand users, or anyone who wants to improve their iOS device’s audio-capture capabilities, regardless of the Core Audio application you’re using. Due to its small size, MiC also makes a fine traveling companion, and is very well-suited to the demands of mobile recording—while being compact enough to be a no-brainer to carry it around for when you need it."

ProAudio Review - USB Microphones featuring Apogee MiCby Lynn Fuston, January 2013 “As we set up and tried out different mics, this was the first one that made me smile. The Apogee was clear and bright and not overdriven, thanks to the gain pot. I was impressed at how it handled the high SPLs”
|
Acoustic Guitarby Doug Young "Combining a MiC and an iPhone or iPad can easily change your perspective on recording. The MiC fits in your pocket or a guitar case’s accessory compartment when stored in its optional carrying bag. You can pull your phone and MiC out of your pocket and start recording in seconds anywhere, any time the mood strikes you, with surprisingly good sound quality. The MiC should especially appeal to those who want a portable recording solution, and it would also be a great addition to a practice setup at home. But it’s also an easy-to-use, inexpensive, and foolproof way to take the first steps toward a home studio."
|
Sound on Soundby Hugh Robjohns "Apogee's MiC would make a good podcast mic, and delivers surprisingly good sound quality for recording acoustic instruments too - you could certainly make a fairly decent demo using just a MiC and an iPad." |
Recording Magazine - Pocket-sized interfaces with Apogee powerby Beto Hale "The guitar’s sound was faithfully reproduced. I was especially impressed with the third track; it seems like MiC really liked the sweet sound of a softly fingerpicked figure."
|
Geekbeat TVby Philip Nelson "Because it’s so small and portable, I can take it anywhere. Just throw it in a backpack and go. Apogee includes a tripod with the Mic and because it works with any recorder application, all you need to do is plug in, record on your favorite app and become a star."
|
Wired – Geek Momby Kristen Rutherford"I can’t believe I am putting this in writing and out into the world… but I have been plugging [Apogee MiC] into my iPad, going into my clothes closet, closing the door, and recording in there! The clothes make it a naturally soundproofed room, and the recordings sound even more amazing." |
The Rolling StoneFeatured in Rolling Stone Issue 1164 (August 2012). Music Tech Section.by Patrick Doyle “With an old-school look, this studio-quality condenser mic connects directly into your iPad or iPhone (they also work with Macs and some PCs) – just plug in and you can record on GarageBand within seconds. With 24-bit analog-to-digital conversion, the sound is crisp – perfect for both on-the-go acoustic demos or podcasts”

The Wall Street JournalFeatured on WSJ.com and in the March 10-11, 2012 edition of the newspaper section, GEAR & GADGETS"WHETHER YOU ASPIRE to be the next Adele or just want to record the best-sounding depositions in your law firm, Apogee's new MiC makes the process of laying down high-fidelity audio tracks on your iPad, iPhone or Mac computer nearly foolproof." |
Wired - Geek Dadby Chuck Lawton"... MiC by Apogee is a diminutive condenser microphone that is dead simple to operate yet captures highly detailed sound. ... I was first surprised by the MiC’s heft; its all metal construction immediately strikes you as a well manufactured and high-end product... Whether you’re writing music, shooting movies or capturing sound, Apogee’s latest offering has so many uses for producing content that it may be your next best accessory."
|
G4 TV - Attack of the Showby Matt Mira"The quality of the microphone is unbelievable, it blew me away. It picks up exactly what you want... It’s fantastic whether you’re doing a spoken word (like a podcast) or an acoustic guitar, it’s really top notch." |
Harmonycentralby Craig Anderton"MiC needn’t make any excuses for build quality, sound quality, or appropriateness for iOS devices and Mac" |
Prosound"Since making its market debut at the National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) earlier this year, the cardioid condenser device has been proven to pack walloping punches in terms of loud, clear audio. Lauded also for its portability, the MiC allows consumers to easily build tracks through iPad apps such as GarageBand or through iProRecorder when using iPhones."
|
Guitar Salon International"Most mic’s (if not all) that work with iPod/iPad/iPhone only work with those devices, and not as a USB mic that’ll interface with your computer as well, so it’s pretty handy that Apogee’s ‘Mic’ does both, as there are times you’ll want to use Garage Band or some other DAW on your laptop, even though recording apps for the iPhone are starting to have more and more features. The ability to turn your iPhone into a full -blown high-quality field recorder is kind of a game changer, though, and what sets the ‘Mic’ apart at the end of the day is the sound quality." |
