Apogee Plugins Are Moving to Plugin Alliance
We’re excited to share an important update about the future of Apogee plugins.
Apogee plugins are moving to Plugin Alliance, which will become the new home for purchasing, downloading, licensing, and updating Apogee software. As part of this transition, Apogee plugins are no longer available for purchase directly from the Apogee website.
Existing Apogee plugin owners will receive vouchers to claim new Plugin Alliance versions of their Apogee plugins at no charge. These vouchers will be delivered by email over the next few weeks, along with instructions for redeeming your new versions through Plugin Alliance.
The move gives Apogee plugins greater resources for software development, compatibility, maintenance, and support. It also moves the new versions away from PACE/iLok licensing and introduces improvements customers will see immediately.
What Existing Apogee Plugin Owners Need to Know
Your currently activated PACE/iLok versions will continue to work. Existing sessions will continue to reference those versions, so we recommend keeping them installed for recalling existing projects.
Legacy Apogee plugin installers will also remain available from the Apogee website.
The new Plugin Alliance versions are separate installations and will be the versions supported on new systems and receiving future updates and improvements. Once available, we recommend claiming them promptly and using the Plugin Alliance versions for new work going forward.
If you already have a Plugin Alliance account, you can use it. If you don’t, you’ll be able to create one as part of the redemption process. Your Plugin Alliance account email does not need to match the email associated with your existing Apogee/iLok licenses.
MOD EQ 6 and MOD Comp
MOD EQ 6 and MOD Comp owners will receive upgrade options from the Plugin Alliance catalog, rather than direct ports of the original MOD Series plugins.
Your existing MOD Series plugins will continue to work, while the new options provide an even more capable path forward within the Plugin Alliance ecosystem.
Why Plugin Alliance?
The move to Plugin Alliance follows a broader alignment between the companies. Rockforce founder Dirk Ulrich now owns Apogee, Brainworx, and Plugin Alliance, bringing Apogee together with the software companies he originally founded and built.
That shared ownership creates an opportunity to bring Apogee’s plugin catalog into an organization with deep experience developing, distributing, and supporting professional audio software. Apogee plugins will have access to a larger development team and greater resources for bug fixes, operating-system compatibility, ongoing development, and future improvements.
The transition also addresses something we’ve heard from customers for years: iLok licensing has been a pain point for some users and, in some cases, a reason customers have chosen not to purchase Apogee plugins.
The new Plugin Alliance versions do not require iLok, providing a simpler way to purchase, authorize, install, and manage Apogee plugins through the Plugin Alliance Installation Manager.
The new versions also introduce fully scalable windows across the Apogee plugin range, addressing one of the most frequent requests we’ve received from users.
Purchasing Apogee Plugins Going Forward
New Apogee plugin purchases will move to Plugin Alliance, which will also become the home for downloading, licensing, and updating the new versions through the Plugin Alliance Installation Manager.
Apogee plugins will also become part of the broader Plugin Alliance software ecosystem and subscription offerings.
What Do I Need to Do?
1) Keep your existing Apogee plugins installed to recall existing sessions and projects.
2) Watch for an email from Apogee over the next few weeks containing your Plugin Alliance voucher information.
3) Redeem your vouchers promptly and add the new versions to your Plugin Alliance account.
4) Use the Plugin Alliance versions for new projects as you transition your workflow.
