FAQ
The Symphony Studio Series achieves the same sonic aesthetics and measurable spec as the first generation Symphony MK II cards such as the 16x16S2 and 8x8S2. While the analog signal path and components differ, the Symphony Studio Series also performs on par with the Symphony Desktop while providing larger IO counts. The Symphony MK II Special Edition provides superior audio performance and thus is not comparable.
The Output DSP provides 3 main features: Speaker Delay, Bass Management, and Room Correction. For those working in stereo, room correction allows users the ability to tune a flatter response out of their room, thus enhancing monitoring accuracy and clarity. For those using the Symphony Studio Series for Atmos Mixing, the Output DSP features provide all the needed functionality for mixing in Dolby Atmos and achieving needed standards.
While there are good many ways to go about this, a few resources may be useful:
DB25, also known as Dsub is a connection that can carry up to 8 signals that would otherwise travel over XLR or 1/4" TRS connections. They are used on the Symphony Studio Series for the Outputs, thus allowing the unit to only occupy 1 rack mount space while holding as many as 16 outputs for the sake of connecting speakers, or outboard equipment (such as analog compressors or EQs etc.).
